Career

This year, I achieved a long-time dream by joining Amazon as a Solutions Architect in February. It was truly a milestone moment for me.

My first year at Amazon has been a journey of immense learning, personal growth, and tackling imposter syndrome. I’m deeply grateful for my incredible team and manager, who have been not only excellent mentors but also supportive and fun colleagues.

After joining Amazon, I decided to reduce the number of speaking engagements to prioritize work. This decision allowed me to create more space for my career, health, and personal life.

Here are a few highlights from my year:

  • Visiting Amazon's Seattle HQ, including Day 1 and the iconic Amazon Spheres.

  • Presenting a small project I worked on internally.

  • Attending conferences across the UK and EU, including React and React Native events in Paris, Poland, and the UK. It was an incredible experience to be on the other side of the table.

  • Co-authoring a chapter on "Accessibility" for TV apps, in collaboration with Callstack.io and Amazon.

  • Speaking at two meetups in London, UK: ReactJS Girls and JS Monthly London.

  • Presenting at the React Nexus conference in India.

  • Publishing two blogs on Dev.to, both of which were featured. I was honored to receive the 2024 Author of the Year recognition from Dev.to.

It’s been a year of fulfilling achievements and exciting challenges, and I’m looking forward to what the next year will bring!

Personal

This year, my focus shifted significantly toward my health. Early in the year, I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. To better understand and manage my condition, I used a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to track my sugar levels and their relationship with the foods I consumed. This was a transformative exercise.

A close friend guided me through this journey, and with support from the NHS, I gained valuable insights into managing blood sugar levels effectively.

As I worked on improving my sugar levels, I also lost some weight, and a few other health issues resolved along the way. However, I am still pre diabetic, and I recognize that this is a long journey that requires patience and consistency.

I consciously chose to take things as slowly as possible, avoiding the trap of unnecessary urgency. That sense of urgency often leads to stress, which, in turn, negatively impacts health.

I transitioned to a more plant-based diet and adopted a mindful approach to all aspects of life—be it food, content, or the people I surround myself with.

I’m grateful to have found some wonderful mentors and supportive friends along the way. On a personal level, I have no complaints this year.

I also spent time reading about yoga, nutrition, hydration, and the importance of quality sleep—essential elements that have played a significant role in my journey.

Books

I don't track how many books I read but there were a few I read. For 2025, I have decided to start tracking the book notes.
