You got Paid by X!!

On 25th April I woke up to an email - I got paid by X. I got 18.8M views and got paid $360.15. Let me tell you the story behind it.

Am I content creator?

short answer NO.

Then why I bought a blue tick?

I bought the blue tick after a month of it getting launched. I was an active X user for years and for me the reason to buy the blue tick was my blogs were not getting "interaction". When I say interaction it means - people are commenting, interacting on my blogs and tweets. However, due to change in the algo of X the reach had dropped. So, for my blogs...I have bought it...the aim was not to be a content creator but just get some interaction on my blogs.

Focus on followers and payout?

I was never into getting more followers or payout. This is not something aligned with my career or life's goal.

I can't even curate my profile...this is not something aligned with my nature. I was focusing a LOT on my mental health and my physical health and social media was not good for me. So, I had 0 interest in both.

I took many social media breaks to keep myself sane. There was too much hate and nasty anon accounts. I used to tweet for myself, not for others. But the moment a tweet got views...hate comments used to increase. I either used to delete the main tweet or just quit X.

What changed?

In Feb, 2026 my friend Jatin whatsapped me - Neha, your content is good. Are you not getting payout?

Neha: lol..my content is not good it is just me random posting stuff. And no, I am not getting any payout..I even don't know how to get it.

Jatin: I think all you need to do is just keep posting and not to take break. You will be there soon.

Jatin started sending me X algo's rules and tips. He also started motivating me. When I used to get hate comments...he was my go-to-person.

So, from Feb I started posting more and taking less breaks.

And then one morning in April, it happened — thanks to one viral tweet, I got the payout.

Hate comments

I really want to address the hate comments. I know social media is full of anon accounts and the way to get views is by spitting poison aka hate comments.

Let me share just two examples that stayed with me.

For me the shocking thing is they are not bots. They are real humans and when they are typing those words, it shows how sick their mentality is especially the hate for women.

eg: A guy (not anon account) based in Germany, a proud Maratha (as per his bio) replied in one of my tweets that - how companies just hire women and these women destroy families.

I was wondering - You are a proud Maratha and most Maratha women are v strong and work too...is this how you think about women in your family too? You don't even know me and just came and typed this? You are now taking your disgusting beliefs outside India where you must be thinking about all the female/different gender folks the same.

eg: One guy/gal (anon account) went to my website, then to my about page..took the screenshot of my pic and replied on one of my random tweets with that pic saying - with this face good you left India.

I was wondering - the original tweet was not related to India. I don't even know this person...what's the deal.

Checked their profile..they were targeting all accounts/people who left India. I really wanted to reply but then I saw their handle — it was on the name of Shiva god. I am a devotee of Shiva. I didn't feel comfortable writing the reply and this made me wonder - how are you using God's name and speaking so much hate. At the end I am a human and so are you. God is watching.

There were many more such - diversity hiring, and worse comments.

What makes me scared is that these are real humans in the society working, breathing, and living with women..how scary and two-faced they are.

If you can't be nice, then just stay quiet.

What's next?

The show will keep going. As I said, my X is not a curated account...it is a mix of art, tech, nature walks, travel and random stuff. I will keep posting about these.
