My first project at work - VegaOS
2 min readVegaOS Is Live! 🚀🎉
Finally, I can talk about this publicly!! VegaOS is now open to the world!
For the past 1 year and 8 months, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to this incredible project. Coming from large organizations like Tesco and Oracle, every release has always been special but VegaOS truly holds a unique place in my heart.
What’s fascinating is that 1 year and 8 months isn’t even that long compared to the scale of this project. Some of my colleagues have been building toward this moment for over 5 years! Still, the impact, challenges, and learning I’ve experienced during my time here have been nothing short of amazing.
And the cherry on top? This was my first-ever project in the world of TV apps!
Until now, my career had revolved around web, mobile apps, and CLI tooling. Transitioning into TV application development was a whole new adventure — and I’ve loved every bit of it.
What I’ve Learned 💡
1 . Work on things that create impact. It’s the most fulfilling feeling.
2 . Time is precious.. use it wisely.
3 . Raise concerns early. It saves a lot of future pain.
4 . Ask for support. Collaboration > hesitation.
5 . Be solution-oriented. Problems are inevitable; progress is optional.
6 . Document everything. Future-you (and your teammates) will thank you.
7 . You can learn anything — if you really want to.
8 . Communication is key. Tech alone can’t build great products.
9 . Tech is just one part of the job. People, processes, and purpose matter too.
10 . It takes a village to raise a baby. And in this case, that baby was VegaOS. 👶💻
